The Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame is offering five scholarships in 2014, two of which will be offered for the first time: the Jeff Baum Scholarship and the Robert Payzer Memorial/EAA Chapter 640 Scholarship.
The Jeff Baum Scholarship is a $250 award, established by Avfuel Corporation, for those pursuing a career in aviation business management. The $500 Robert Payzer Memorial/EAA Chapter 640 Scholarship is for students in any aviation or aerospace discipline.
These new scholarships will be awarded in 2014, along with WAHF’s original scholarships: the $1,000 Carl Guell Memorial Scholarship, the $500 Jerome Ripp Memorial Scholarship, and the $500 Thiessen Field Scholarship. Applicants must show Wisconsin residency of at least five years, be a continuing student in a full-time, multi-year program at an accredited school, and be active in community and extracurricular activities.
The Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame recently changed its scholarship program to include Wisconsin students enrolled in aviation/aerospace courses of study at colleges and universities located outside the state. The change applies to all of its scholarships, excluding the Thiessen Field Scholarship, which goes to students in aviation programs at a Wisconsin technical college.
The application deadline for all scholarships is March 3, 2014. Additional information and application materials can be found at www.CFONCW.org. Questions regarding Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame scholarship criteria or application process can be directed to Sue Nelson at the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin office, sue@cfoncw.org or 715-845-9555.
The Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame has awarded $20,000 since the launch of its scholarship program in 2002. WAHF’s mission is to collect and preserve the history of aviation in Wisconsin, recognize those who made it, inform others of it, and promote aviation education to future generations.
