There is a great need for the current generation of women in aviation to pass along their stories to inspire the ladies of tomorrow. Texas Woman's University (TWU) is right on task encouraging these women to preserve their memorabilia and record their oral history. Every woman has a story! You may think what you do is insignificant, but it could be the key influence for a young girl to enter into the incredible field of aviation.

Kimberly Johnson, the Coordinator of Special Collections at TWU, has the resources to help women all over the world with this archiving process. They have...

Receiving much attention this year is the Silent Auction with many great items and a consistent flow of bidders.

Proceeds from the Silent Auction go towards the WAI Endowment Fund, which provides scholarships to deserving young women who desire to pursue a career in aviation, as well as other projects.

Thank you to our volunteers that help keep the bids going!

The auction ends on Saturday, March 8, at 12:30 p.m. so be sure to stop by and bid on your favorite items before it's too late!

The spectacularly large Coronado Ballroom was the chosen venue for the general session. The WAI jazz band opened the event by playing a selection of well known tunes including "Do the Eagle Rock." The Boeing Company generously sponsored the session, and it was incredible to see the number of Boeing employees here attending the Conference when they were asked to stand. Joy Bryant spoke about the history of female aviators and gave an excellent overview on what and how women have achieved in aviation. Joy currently works within the Boeing Space education division. Dr. Peggy Charbrian...

Since WAI members are savvier than the average, you may know that it wasn't Amelia Earhart who was the first woman to fly solo around the world, as many believe, but rather Jerrie Mock who was surprised to discover in 1964 that the feat had yet to be accomplished.

She set out on March 19, 1964, in her Cessna 180 to have the adventure. The trip began in Columbus, Ohio, and ended in Columbus on April 19, 1964. In all, the trip took 29 days, had 21 stopovers, and she covered 22,860 miles.

Women in Aviation, International held its first Conference in Prescott, Arizona, in 1990. Across the country in Massachusetts that same year, Bose was launching the first in its line of aviation headsets. Now, a quarter of a century later, both WAI and Bose are celebrating their 25th anniversary years.

To mark the occasion, Bose has donated an A20 headset, introduced in July 2010, with a retail value of $1,095. The A20 will be presented after a random drawing of WAI members who have either joined or renewed at the Conference as one of the awards given as part of the kickoff of our...

The health of the organization was on the mind of WAI members who turned out for this year's annual membership meeting in Fiesta 7 Thursday morning. The room was filled with WAI members from around the world who listened as Treasurer Dick Koenig told them the good news, WAI is fiscally sound and growing, with a healthy bump in membership and Conference attendance this year, too.

After the business of the organization (minutes read and approved from last year, election of 2014 board members Anna Dietrich and Deborah Baugh) the group was in for a treat. Dr. Peggy Chabrian, President...

If you've come to this year's Conference looking for a job, rest assured you have made the right choice! In fact, so many people came here looking for jobs last year, we put our heads together in the "off season" and came up with a great new way to help WAI members connect with the potential employers on your "must see" list this week.

First, you're going to want to check out The Daily for a schedule of hiring information seminars presented by the different airlines participating. In these 30-minute seminars they'll share basic application procedures for their company,...
