The health of the organization was on the mind of WAI members who turned out for this year's annual membership meeting in Fiesta 7 Thursday morning. The room was filled with WAI members from around the world who listened as Treasurer Dick Koenig told them the good news, WAI is fiscally sound and growing, with a healthy bump in membership and Conference attendance this year, too.
After the business of the organization (minutes read and approved from last year, election of 2014 board members Anna Dietrich and Deborah Baugh) the group was in for a treat. Dr. Peggy Chabrian, President of Women in Aviation, International, introduced a surprise speaker, Anne Ene-ita, senior special assistant to the Minister of Aviation Reforms, Federal Ministry of Aviation, Nigeria.
You might not know it, but there are more WAI members in Nigeria than in any other country outside of the U.S. Anne explained that women are involved in all aspects of aviation in Nigeria, right up to the head of the Federal Ministry of Aviation! There are more than 180 Nigerian members here at the Conference. They come for our educational seminars, networking, and the chance to expand their horizons.
