Since WAI members are savvier than the average, you may know that it wasn't Amelia Earhart who was the first woman to fly solo around the world, as many believe, but rather Jerrie Mock who was surprised to discover in 1964 that the feat had yet to be accomplished.

She set out on March 19, 1964, in her Cessna 180 to have the adventure. The trip began in Columbus, Ohio, and ended in Columbus on April 19, 1964. In all, the trip took 29 days, had 21 stopovers, and she covered 22,860 miles.

A 50th anniversary edition of Three-Eight Charlie (a reference to the call sign of her airplane) has recently been published.
