Visit WAI Onsite at Booth 2041, Hangar B

What started as a one-day, one-time event at EAA AirVenture in 2008 has grown and evolved for 10 years. WomenVenture, a partnership between EAA and Women in Aviation International, will take place for the 10th time in 2017.  Kicking off on Monday, July 24, 2017, AirVenture’s opening day, is an all-new WomenVenture event, the WomenVenture Social,  in Forum Building 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. (Preregistration appreciated – Register for the social here)

“This opening event is a great opportunity to meet and network with like-minded women in aviation,” says WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. “Whether you fly for work or play, or are looking for inspiration and motivation to get started, you’ll be among friends when we gather Monday evening.”

Other WomenVenture events will take place throughout the week with unique programs planned. On Tuesday, July 25, an Aviation Appreciation Dinner sponsored by the Ninety-Nines will take place at 6 p.m. in the EAA Nature Center. The featured speaker is Adrian Eichhorn, who flew his 1962 V-tail Bonanza around the world last year. (Tickets for dinner are required – Buy dinner tickets here

Wednesday, July 26 is WomenVenture Day. WAI’s traditional Connect Breakfast begins the day at the EAA Nature Center at 8 a.m. Susan Dusenbury, the Vintage Aircraft Association President and Connie Bowlin, EAA Warbirds of America President are the featured speakers. (Tickets for breakfast are required – Buy breakfast tickets here)

At 11 a.m. WomenVenture participants will gather in Boeing Plaza for the annual group photo. Most wearing WomenVenture t-shirts, participants join hundreds of other pro-aviation women for a lively and fun group shot representing the powerful sisterhood of aviation. From there, it’s on to the WomenVenture Power Lunch in Theater in the Woods with Dr. Janet Lapp, a motivational speaker who inspires people to adopt a leadership mindset to lead others through disruptive change. (Tickets for lunch are required – Buy lunch tickets here)

WomenVenture week ends on a high note with a showing of Hidden Figures, the feature film about a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role at NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program. The film will be shown at the EAA Fly-In Theater on Friday, July 28 at 8:30 p.m.

“We are grateful to EAA for their commitment to AirVenture for ten consecutive years and thank them for the many opportunities women now have to make AirVenture that much more meaningful to them personally,” says Dr. Chabrian. “WomenVenture 2017 will be a fabulous week!”
