Funds used for Girls in Aviation Day participants about helicopters

Women in Aviation International (WAI) has received a $10,000 grant from Bell to help fund educational activities for WAI’s Girls in Aviation Day. Specifically, this grant is used to provide helicopter-oriented editorial content in WAI’s annual magazine Aviation for Girls and to provide hands-on educational activities including understanding rotary flight by experimenting with and flying whirly-gigs.

In addition, WAI chapters and other interested individuals may download an 11-page educational packet sponsored by Bell about helicopters HERE to use at their Girls in Aviation Day events or in any classroom activity. The 2018 issue of Aviation for Girls is available digitally HERE.

"Because of Bell’s generosity this year and in past years, literally thousands of girls have been introduced to rotary flight as part of Girls in Aviation Day,” says WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. “The money from this grant has expanded our educational offerings for Girls in Aviation Day events and made it possible to present the unique segment of aviation represented by helicopters. We are grateful to Bell for their leadership and support.”
