Six years of support helps make Girls in Aviation Day and Aviation for Girls magazine possible

For the sixth year in a row, Women in Aviation International received a $15,000 grant from the International Society of Transport Aircraft Training (ISTAT) Foundation, which funds educational programs that advance commercial aviation.

As in past years, this grant will be used to expand the distribution of Aviation for Girls magazine with the ISTAT Foundation identified as the sponsor of this year’s issue. With this grant, the number of copies printed will be distributed in both hard copy and digitally. The 2020 issue of Aviation for Girls will be available digitally to all Women in Aviation International members and any interested individuals at WAI.org.

Aviation for Girls will also be polybagged with the September/October issue of Aviation for Women so that all WAI members have a copy of the magazine to pass along to a daughter, granddaughter, niece, neighbor, or other girl in their lives.

Through this yearly magazine, girls ages 8 to 17 are introduced to careers in aviation and aerospace.  Aviation for Girls is an integral part of Girls in Aviation Day. The print version of Aviation for Girls will be provided to thousands of kids enrolled for the new Aviation for Girls App, and all 6 issues of the magazine are available digitally on the Aviation for Girls App.

"The ISTAT Foundation’s support of Aviation for Girls as well as our Girls in Aviation Day events puts all the excitement of aviation in the hands of kids all around the world. With interesting and informative content crafted for all age groups, girls can see opportunities that they may never have considered,” says WAI CEO Allison McKay “ISTAT has been a consistent partner since the inception of Girls in Aviation Day. Their generosity helps make thousands of dreams possible.”

The ISTAT Foundation was founded in 1994 to provide funds for scholarships, educational programs, and grants to qualified individuals and institutions that promote the advancement of commercial aviation and humanitarianism. The ISTAT Foundation Grants Program, administered by the ISTAT Foundation Grants Committee of the ISTAT Foundation Board of Trustees, offers direct grant funding to non-profit [section 501(c)(3) or its equivalent outside the United States] organizations.

WAI Chapters, members, and supporters will celebrate Girls in Aviation Day on September 26, 2020 with the launch of the new Aviation for Girls App, which will be available on all app stores for free. Kids (and their parents) can enroll to participate at www.wai.org/giad.

Many thanks to our 2020 Girls in Aviation Day partners, without whom this incredible program would not be possible.  ULTIMATE PARTNER -U.S. Air Force PREMIER PARTNERS- Amazon, ISTAT Foundation, Piedmont Airlines, PPG Foundation, Sporty’s Pilot Shop.
