All systems go for EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019

For the twelfth year, women attending EAA AirVenture will enjoy a show within a show as a host of WomenVenture activities take place. EAA WomenVenture is an annual celebration of women from all facets of the aviation community.

Activities are scheduled during the week of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh (July 22-28, 2019) to provide women the opportunity to connect with other women who love aviation and build camaraderie within the EAA and WAI communities.

WAI’s Connect Breakfast, co-sponsored by Avemco and United Airlines, takes place on Wednesday, July 24, starting at 8 a.m., and held at the Paul H. Poberezny Conference Center (“PHP Tent”). This event features former naval aviator and Southwest Captain Tammie Jo Shults who will share her story of safely landing Southwest Airlines flight 1380 and talk about her upcoming book Nerves of Steel.

Tickets for the WAI Connect Breakfast may be purchased online for $17 each until July 21 (purchase tickets here: https://www.wai.org/events/wai-connect-breakfast-eaa-airventure ), and $20 onsite, as space permits, at the WAI booth, Hangar B-2041.

The Air Line Pilots Association will host a reception for aspiring airline pilots as part of this year’s 10 th anniversary WomenVenture week at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. Slated for Friday, July 28, 2017, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, the reception has as its goal to have young pilots hear the experiences of active pilots for the major carriers ALPA represents and have their questions about a career as an airline pilot answered by those who have chosen it as a career.

The reception will be held on site at the EAA Partner Resource Center with light refreshments served. Although the ALPA reception is free, an admission ticket is required which may be picked up at ALPA’s Booth C-11 at the Education and Career Center at EAA’s Aviation Gateway Park.

What started as a one-day, one-time event at EAA AirVenture in 2008 has grown and evolved for 10 years. WomenVenture, a partnership between EAA and Women in Aviation International, will take place for the 10th time in 2017.

WAI members attending EAA AirVenture Oshkosh will have a greater opportunity to participate in WomenVenture events during the annual gathering as the programming is expanding to include events throughout the week. Wednesday, July 27, will be a day of celebration within AirVenture’s “aviation family reunion” culture. It will include the Women in Aviation breakfast at 8 a.m. and annual group photo on Boeing Plaza at 11 a.m., plus the WomenVenture Power Lunch at EAA’s Theater in the Woods.
